ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – The White House said Tuesday it will partially fund SNAP benefits even after President Donald Trump wrote in a post that those benefits will only be given out when the government shutdown ends.
Meanwhile, food banks across metro Atlanta are working overtime to help impacted families.
“It just feels overwhelming,” said Jenny Jobson, the executive director of the Midtown Assistance Center. “People rely on it. People are now probably making decisions about, ‘Do I purchase my medicine? Do I pay my electric bill? Do I pay my rent?’ It’s quickly going to cause families to make tough decisions.”
