September Volunteer of the Month: Carol
“My time at MAC is one of my favorite times of the week,” Carol reflects. Carol is a weekly volunteer who meets with clients to provide assistance. She began volunteer for Midtown Assistance Center in 2017 after a long career in real estate. Carol brings her heart to work at MAC, and always goes an extra mile for clients. She is known to stay late to finish up a case or bring a donation at home for a client she met with the week before. Carol is an incredible advocate for the clients, working to get them additional resources from MAC or negotiating with landlords.
When asked what keeps her coming back each week, Carol responds, “There is much need in the community. Helping just one person or family that day, I hope, made a little difference in their lives. The staff and other volunteers now seem like family to me.” Carol has donated over 200 volunteer hours to Midtown Assistance Center and has helped countless clients. Summer is our busiest season, and her commitment to MAC ensured every client was met with compassion, even on the craziest days.
When she is not serving her community, Carol can be found walking along the Chattahoochee with her dog, Lucy, working in her garden and playing bridge with her friends.
