Volunteer

At MAC, we pride ourselves in being accessible to the community. When
neighbors call, we want to be available to answer the phone. Over the phone, we listen compassionately, screen them for our program, or direct them to an organization better suited to help.

Since we screen all our clients over the phone before they arrive, our neighbors arrive knowing exactly how we can help and what they need to bring. The volunteer meets with the client directly, providing additional information and processing documentation. Volunteers distribute the assistance, be it groceries, a rent check or MARTA pass, and work alongside the client to figure out next steps.

We have a client choice pantry, which means our clients get to choose the groceries which best meet their families’ needs. Our neighbors select what they want from a shopping list, and our volunteers help pack the food for them.

Volunteers sign up to drive and pick up orders to be delivered to MAC’s office to stock our food pantry (Atlanta Community Food Bank, Local Grocery Stores, Bakeries, Helping Mamas, etc.).

This works well for volunteers who have limited time but want to serve.
